After a neck and neck battle Rob and Paddy finished tied at the top on 95 points (for the first time adjusted competition handicaps were used: 85%), which included Rob miraculously bouncing off the bridge on the last green and then draining a monster putt to halve with Paddy.

Rob van Hille won the title after a count out on the combined stroke 1’s. Paddy finished 2nd followed by Ross on 91 points.

    The golfers were:

  • 2022

The 2022 Invitational was contested in the Garden Route over three rounds between the 21st and 23rd of October 2022. Rounds were played at George Golf Club, Simola and Pezula with the golfers staying at the Fourie’s place and the Slow Down Lodge in beautiful Sedgefield.

Some sensational (and not so sensational) golf was played over the three days but once again the steady hand and head of Estian Fourie saw him being crowned as Champion once more - making him a winner for the 3rd time since 2015! He made 101 points over the 3 days. Andrew Galloway (97 points) finished in second place with Paddy Cairns (95 points) finishing in 3rd.

Too many glorious moments to mention but a shout out to Stephen for carding the FIRST 40 point round on a GI Tour (at Pezula on the Sunday).

Andrew Galloway defended his Galloway Master’s Title and the first-time Team Competition was won by “The Holey Ones” (Andrew Galloway, Lood Oosthuizen, William Galloway, Stix Galloway) by such a long way it was absurd.

    The golfers were:

Walter Galloway, William Galloway, Stix Galloway, Littlejohn Galloway, Stephen Galloway, Andrew Galloway, Estian Fourie, Keith Stewart, Gordon van den Heever, Phillip Burger, Siael McPherson, Damian Rainier, Lood Oosthuizen, Regardt Joubert, Rob Van Hille and Paddy Cairns.

  • 2023

2023 will be the year in which the GI grew to 20 players.

We gathered at Elements Private Golf Club in Limpopo Province from 4 - 8 May 2023 for what would turn out to be a very special trip.

Staying on the Estate across two gorgeous houses we were spoilt by the weather, the course, the luxurious homes and once again the sensational cooking!

Paddy Cairns played brilliantly to win the title and set a new 3 round points record with 108 points across the 3 days. So far Paddy has played in 4 GI’s and has been in the final 4ball every, single, time! Estian Fourie was 103 in second, followed by Gert Erasmus & Stix Galloway tied in third on 96 points

Gert and Stix carded 40 pointers to join Stephen as the only other GI golfer to card a 40-pointer on Tour. Stix carded a 75 on day 3 for the lowest gross round of the tournament.

Stix Galloway took the honours in the Galloway Master’s Title and the Team competition was won by the Mulligan Mambas with what must have been one of the greatest team comebacks of all time (Estian Fourie, Stix Galloway, Siael McPherson and William Galloway with an almighty 145 points on the last day - beating the next closest team by 32 points on the final day’s play).

    The golfers were:

Walter Galloway, William Galloway, Stix Galloway, Littlejohn Galloway, Stephen Galloway, Andrew Galloway, Estian Fourie, Andrew Berry, Kruger Van Deventer, Phillip Burger, Siael McPherson, Damian Rainier, Andries Lodder, Gert Erasmus, Thomas Kingsley, Ross Kingsley, Dylan Meadon, Duane Viljoen, Rob Van Hille and Paddy Cairns.

  • 2024

2024 once again saw 20 players competing for the Galloway Invitational.

After warmup rounds at Simola and Humewood (thanks Keith!) players gathered at St. Francis Links in the Eastern Cape from 2 - 6 May 2024 for what would turn out to be a sensational trip. Staying in the St Francis Nature Reserve Resort across three gorgeous side by side self catering Villas, we were perfectly positioned to enjoy the town, the course and all it had to offer!

Paddy Cairns (107) played brilliantly to win the title for a second year in a row missing his previous year’s record by only one stroke. His final round saw him amassing 40 points to finish a staggering 12 points clear of second placed Andrew Berry (95), with third place going to Andrew Galloway (94) . Paddy maintains his record of being in the final fourball on Day 3 for every GI he has ever played in.

2024 also saw the introduction of the Players Auction where each player could bid for a combined stableford partner AND buy themselves or another player in the individual auction. No prizes for guessing who walked away with all the money this year!

    The Golfers were:

Walter Galloway, William Galloway, Stix Galloway, Stephen Galloway, Andrew Galloway, Estian Fourie, Andrew Berry, Phillip Burger, Siael McPherson, Damian Rainier, Gert Erasmus, Thomas Kingsley, Ross Kingsley, Rob Van Hille, Paddy Cairns, Lood Oosthuizen, Wykie Etsebeth, Gordon Van Den Heever, Keith Stewart and Wynand Stoker.

  • The Galloway Masters

Every now and then the Galloways host a Galloway Masters tournament … it happens rarely, but when it does it is special.

Stix Galloway is the current Title Holder (2023).

  • Fancourt 2020

Something of an impulsive mini-tour which took place in November 2020. Responding to a Covid-19 inspired “special offer” a group of us played the famed Outeniqua and Montague courses at Fancourt. Sadly, because some humans do not know how to behave, we were denied the right to play on The Links as planned. We moaned about it from our upgraded accommodation at The Manor House all weekend long.
